Carolyn's Book List

In choosing my lists I have a few goals I would like to accomplish. I want to take advantage of having a partner in conquering some of the classics I've never finished. I also set the goal of reading all the pulitzer prize winning novels so I plan on putting at least one of those per list of 5. Dan and I have very polarizing tastes when it comes to entertainment. I want to test both our preferences. I want to pick one book I know we'll both hate and love per list. Hopefully, within the discussion of these novels we can learn to love each others hates. I also have the goal of keeping up with pop culture fiction so each list I want at least one NY Times bestseller. These are my own personal goals not rules that Dan is tied down too.

1. A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Graf
The winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in fiction. Dan loves the word Goon. I think this is a good one.

2. Ruined by Lynn Nottage
The winner of the 2009 pulitzer in Drama.


2 1/2. Some Girls by Neil Labute
My favorite playwright. I want to share it with Dan and this is the only play I haven't read.


3. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
I love Vonnegut, I haven't read this one.

4. Killing Lincoln
#5 on the NY Times Bestseller Non-fiction list

5. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
My megabook...let's do this together baby!
